Philadelphia cruise port: where the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal is and how to get there

PhilaPort lists one cruise terminal: the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal at 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153, on the former Hog Island Dock beside Philadelphia International Airport. There is no parking at the terminal, and PhilaPort asks you not to arrive before 9:30 am. All 82 sailings on our schedule are Norwegian, and your cruise documents confirm where you board.

Philadelphia has one cruise terminal. PhilaPort, the port authority, lists the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal at 4 Atlantic Avenue as its cruise terminal, and Norwegian's letter to passengers of 7 August 2026 sends everyone to the same address. No source we can read ties a particular sailing to the building, so the terminal named in your cruise documents is the final word.

  • Terminal. The PhilaPort Cruise Terminal. Norwegian's letter calls it the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal.
  • Address for a driver or GPS. 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153. PhilaPort's FAQ says to use Entrance A.
  • Earliest arrival. 9:30 am. PhilaPort says the terminal does not open before then.
  • Parking. None at the terminal. You park at the Clarion Hotel in Essington and take a free shuttle. See cruise parking in Philadelphia.
  • Cruise line. Norwegian, for every sailing on our schedule.

Where is the Philadelphia cruise terminal?

The Philadelphia cruise terminal is the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal at 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153. PhilaPort's FAQ places it next to Philadelphia International Airport. It stands on the former Hog Island Dock in Tinicum Township, which PhilaPort named as the site when it announced construction in December 2025.

The postal address says Philadelphia, but PhilaPort's groundbreaking release describes a 16-acre site in Tinicum Township, formerly known as the Hog Island Dock Terminal Facility. Do not look for it on the Center City waterfront. By OpenStreetMap routing it is about 9 to 10 miles by road from City Hall.

Give a taxi, a ride app or your GPS the full address, 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153. PhilaPort uses the same address for drop-off and for pickups after the cruise.

How do you drive to the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal?

Take I-95. PhilaPort's FAQ says southbound drivers, coming from Center City and the north, should use Exit 14 for Bartram Avenue and Essington Avenue, a routing it gives through 2027. Northbound drivers, coming from Delaware and the south, use Exit 15. At the terminal, use Entrance A.

Passenger drop-off is directly in front of the embarkation area, PhilaPort says. Cars dropping off passengers cannot reach the terminal before 9:30 am.

If you plan to leave the car for the cruise, drive to the Clarion Hotel Philadelphia International Airport, 76 Industrial Highway, Essington, instead. PhilaPort's FAQ says there is no passenger parking at the terminal.

What time should you arrive at the Philadelphia cruise terminal?

Arrive no earlier than 9:30 am and within the check-in window you picked in your MyNCL account. PhilaPort and Norwegian both say the terminal is closed before 9:30 am, and anyone who turns up early may be asked to leave the area and come back later.

WhenWhat PhilaPort or Norwegian asks
21 to 3 days before sailingComplete online check-in in MyNCL. Print your luggage tags and attach them, because Norwegian does not mail tags.
Embarkation day, from 9:30 amArrive in your check-in window. Leave checked bags at the drop-off outside, then go in for security and check-in.
Before your embarkation timeNorwegian's boarding-times page asks you to arrive at least 1 hour before your embarkation time if you finished online check-in, or 2 hours before if you did not.
Before departureBe on board at least 1 hour before the departure time on your cruise documents, or Norwegian will not let you sail.

The itineraries we hold show a 4 pm departure from Philadelphia on nearly every sailing. Check the time printed on your own documents.

Do you still check in at the Clarion Hotel?

No, not according to the newest instructions. While the terminal was being built, Norwegian checked passengers in at the Clarion Hotel and bused them to the pier. Norwegian's letter of 7 August 2026 and PhilaPort's pages, updated 7 October 2026, send you straight to the terminal. The Clarion is now where you park.

Older pages still describe the hotel check-in. Norwegian's blog post of 14 April 2026 placed check-in in the hotel ballroom and allowed drop-off at the hotel only. Norwegian's own Philadelphia port page still said guests cannot check in at PhilaPort when we read it on 3 November 2026.

Go by the dated letter, PhilaPort's pages and the documents Norwegian sends you for your sailing.

What happens at check-in, and where does your luggage go?

Your checked bags go first. PhilaPort says luggage drop-off is outside the terminal, before you go inside for security screening and check-in. Attach the luggage tags you printed at online check-in, since Norwegian does not mail physical tags.

  • Carry-on. Keep medicines, travel documents and other essentials with you. Norwegian says checked bags are out of reach until they are delivered to your cabin.
  • Norwegian airport transfer. Guests who bought one are taken straight to the terminal, PhilaPort says.
  • Documents. The documents guide covers what to show at check-in.
  • Luggage storage. Neither PhilaPort nor Norwegian mentions a place to leave bags at the terminal, so plan to keep yours with you on the way home.

Is the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal wheelchair accessible?

Yes. PhilaPort's FAQ says the terminal is fully accessible and that wheelchair assistance is available for guests who have requested it. It warns that waits for assistance can run longer when many guests arrive together, and suggests bringing your own wheelchair or walker if you can.

For anything beyond a wheelchair, PhilaPort says to contact Norwegian before you sail. Norwegian's letter of 7 August 2026 gives the same advice about bringing your own mobility aid.

What happens when your cruise returns to Philadelphia?

PhilaPort and Norwegian expect disembarkation between about 7:00 am and 9:30 am. Both ask you to allow extra time to leave the ship, collect your bags, clear the terminal and travel on. The itineraries we hold have the ship due back at 7 am or 8 am.

  • If you parked at the Clarion. Take the free shuttle back to the hotel for your car.
  • If you bought Norwegian's transfer. Staff direct you to your transport.
  • If you are taking Uber, Lyft, a taxi or a private car. You are picked up at the terminal, at 4 Atlantic Avenue. PhilaPort asks you not to request the ride until you are off the ship with your luggage, because there is little space for cars to wait.

For flights home, see the airport guide.

Which cruise lines and ships sail from the Philadelphia cruise terminal?

Norwegian Cruise Line. All 82 sailings on our schedule are Norwegian, and Norwegian's Philadelphia page says it is the only line sailing from the city. PhilaPort's December 2025 release says Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' brands are Philadelphia's exclusive homeport lines under a berthing agreement that runs to 31 March 2033.

About 5 to 6 miles by road, roughly 15 minutes without traffic, by OpenStreetMap routing from the airport's terminal roads on 3 November 2026. Norwegian's port page only says the airport is minutes from the port. The airport guide compares taxis, ride apps and Norwegian's transfer.

Where do you park for a cruise from Philadelphia?

At the Clarion Hotel Philadelphia International Airport, 76 Industrial Highway, Essington, PA 19029, with a free shuttle to the terminal. Norwegian's letter of 7 August 2026 gave $16 a day per vehicle. PhilaPort's pages, updated 7 October 2026, give no figure and say to contact the hotel for current rates.

The parking guide covers booking, the shuttle and the airport's own lots. If you are staying near the port the night before, see the hotels guide, and if this is your first cruise, the first-time cruiser FAQ.
