Philadelphia airport to the cruise terminal: taxi, rideshare or Norwegian transfer
Philadelphia International Airport is about 5 to 6 miles by road from the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal, roughly 15 minutes without traffic by OpenStreetMap routing. We found no official page showing public transport to the terminal, so the last leg is a taxi, a ride app or Norwegian's transfer. At PHL, taxis wait at Zone 5 and ride apps pick up at Zone 7.

Philadelphia International Airport and the cruise terminal are neighbors. PhilaPort describes the terminal as adjacent to the airport, so the drive is short. The real choice is between a taxi, a ride app and Norwegian's own transfer, and the bigger planning question is time: the terminal does not open until 9:30 am.
Give any driver 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153. That is the address PhilaPort uses for drop-off and pickup, and the terminal guide explains where it is.
How far is Philadelphia International Airport from the cruise terminal?
About 5 to 6 miles by road, depending on which airport terminal you leave from, by OpenStreetMap routing on 3 November 2026. The router gives 14 to 16 minutes without traffic. PhilaPort calls the cruise terminal adjacent to the airport, and Norwegian's Philadelphia page says the airport is just minutes from the port.
| Trip | Road distance | Time without traffic |
|---|---|---|
| PHL terminal roads to the cruise terminal | 5.2 to 5.6 miles | 14 to 16 minutes |
| Cruise terminal back to PHL | 5.1 to 5.9 miles | 13 to 16 minutes |
| City Hall to the cruise terminal | 9.3 miles | About 22 minutes |
| 30th Street Station to the cruise terminal | 10.2 miles | About 22 minutes |
OpenStreetMap times assume clear roads, so allow more at busy hours. The road route is longer than the two sites' closeness suggests, because it runs around the airport rather than across it.
What is the easiest way from PHL to the cruise terminal?
A taxi or a ride app, straight to 4 Atlantic Avenue. At PHL, taxis wait at Zone 5 and Uber and Lyft pick up at Zone 7, both on the S. Commercial Road outside baggage claim, phl.org says. If you bought Norwegian's airport transfer, Norwegian takes you directly to the terminal.
| Option | Where you meet it at PHL | What we know about the cost |
|---|---|---|
| Taxi | Zone 5, S. Commercial Road | Metered, about $21 to $22 by our arithmetic on the tariff below |
| Uber or Lyft | Zone 7, outside each baggage claim | Set by the app. We found no official figure. |
| Norwegian transfer | Arranged by Norwegian | We found no Philadelphia price on Norwegian's pages |
How much is a taxi from Philadelphia airport to the cruise terminal?
The meter runs, because the $32 flat rate only covers trips between the airport and Center City. The Philadelphia Parking Authority's tariff, read on 3 November 2026, charges $2.70 for the first tenth of a mile and $0.30 for each tenth after that, plus a $1.50 airport egress fee and a November 2026 fuel surcharge of $1.45 a trip.
On those rates, a 5.2 to 5.6 mile ride from the airport comes to about $21 to $22 by our arithmetic. That is before waiting time, charged at $0.30 for every 37.6 seconds, and before a tip, which the tariff says is not included.
- Per cab. The fare is per cab, not per person, and the tariff adds no charge for luggage.
- Paying. phl.org says all taxis accept credit cards.
- Wheelchair-accessible taxis. phl.org lists four certified dispatch companies and marks two of them, 215 Get-A-Cab and Germantown Cab Co., as dispatchers of wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
- Two rate tables. PHL's own taxi page still shows $0.25 a tenth of a mile. We use the Parking Authority's figure, because it sets the tariff.
Where do Uber and Lyft pick up at Philadelphia airport?
At Zone 7. phl.org says to go through baggage claim, out onto the S. Commercial Road, and follow the Ride App/Zone 7 signs, with a pick-up zone outside each baggage claim. Ask for 4 Atlantic Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19153, the address PhilaPort gives for the cruise terminal.
phl.org also warns travelers not to accept rides from drivers outside the marked pick-up zones, or from drivers who approach them inside the airport. If that happens, tell the baggage claim information desk.
After the cruise, PhilaPort says Uber, Lyft and taxis pick up at the terminal itself. Request the ride only once you are off the ship with your bags, since there is little room for cars to wait.
Does Norwegian run transfers from Philadelphia airport?
Yes. PhilaPort says guests who buy Norwegian's airport transfer are carried between Philadelphia International Airport and the cruise terminal. It sends questions about availability, booking and price to Norwegian, and we found no Philadelphia transfer price on Norwegian's pages on 3 November 2026.
- Booking. Norwegian's FAQ says you can add a transfer in MyNCL, at Step 4 of Online Check-In, at least 4 days before sailing.
- On the way in. Transfer guests are taken directly to the terminal, Norwegian's letter of 7 August 2026 says.
- On the way home. Staff direct transfer guests to their transport after they leave the ship.
Ask Norwegian what the transfer costs for your party, then compare it with one taxi fare.
Can you take SEPTA from the airport to the cruise terminal?
Not that we can confirm. SEPTA's Airport Line and three bus routes serve the airport, but neither PhilaPort nor Norwegian mentions public transport to the cruise terminal. PhilaPort's FAQ tells guests who are not using the Clarion Hotel parking shuttle to arrange a rideshare, taxi or private car.
SEPTA is useful between Center City and the airport, which is covered below.
Can you fly into Philadelphia on the day of your cruise?
You can, but the margin is small. The terminal opens at 9:30 am, you arrive in the check-in window you picked in MyNCL, and Norwegian says everyone must be on board at least an hour before the departure time on their documents, or they will not sail.
- Departure time. The itineraries we hold show a 4 pm departure on nearly every sailing, which puts the boarding cut-off at 3 pm. Check your own documents.
- Arrival before your window. Norwegian's boarding-times page asks you to reach the terminal at least 1 hour before your embarkation time if you finished online check-in, or 2 hours before if you did not.
- A late flight. The drive is short, but a flight that lands after lunch leaves little room for a delay or a slow baggage claim.
We would fly in the day before. The hotels guide covers places to stay near the terminal.
What is the earliest flight home after a Philadelphia cruise?
We found no cut-off on a Norwegian page we could read. Norwegian's letter of 7 August 2026 expects disembarkation between about 7:00 am and 9:30 am, and asks you to allow extra time to collect luggage, clear the terminal and travel on. The itineraries we hold have the ship due back at 7 am or 8 am.
We would book nothing that leaves before midday. That allows for a late call to leave the ship, the wait for a ride and airport security.
If your cruise is one-way, you fly home from somewhere else. 5 sailings on our schedule end in Quebec City and 1 in Barcelona. The documents guide covers what a trip that ends abroad needs.
How do you get from Center City or 30th Street Station to the cruise terminal?
By taxi or ride app, about 9 to 10 miles and roughly 22 minutes without traffic by OpenStreetMap routing. Or take SEPTA's Airport Line to the airport, about 25 minutes from Center City, SEPTA says, then a taxi or ride app for the last 5 to 6 miles.
- Taxi from Center City. The flat rate does not apply, so the meter runs. On the Parking Authority's rates, including the November 2026 fuel surcharge, a 9.3 to 10.2 mile ride comes to about $32 to $34 by our arithmetic, before waiting time and tip.
- SEPTA Airport Line. It runs from Jefferson, Suburban and William H. Gray III 30th Street stations to every airport terminal, and phl.org says trains run every 30 minutes. SEPTA's fare page, read on 3 November 2026, priced the trip from a Center City station at $8.75 by SEPTA Key, contactless card or Quick Trip, or $11.00 paid on board.
- Accessibility. phl.org says all stations on the Airport Line are wheelchair accessible.
- Arriving by Amtrak. William H. Gray III 30th Street Station is at 2955 Market Street. Amtrak's page lists Acela, the Northeast Regional, Keystone Service and the Pennsylvanian, and says taxis pick up on the 29th Street side and rideshares on the Market Street side.
SEPTA counts 30th Street as one of its five Center City stations, so the Center City fare applies from there. Tap a contactless card at the validator when you board and again when you get off, as SEPTA asks.
How do you drive to the cruise terminal from the Philadelphia region?
Take I-95. PhilaPort says southbound drivers should use Exit 14, for Bartram Avenue and Essington Avenue, a routing it gives through 2027, and northbound drivers Exit 15. Then use Entrance A at 4 Atlantic Avenue, where the drop-off is in front of the embarkation area.
There is no parking at the terminal. If you are leaving the car, go to the Clarion Hotel in Essington, which runs a free shuttle, and see the parking guide for its rate and booking.
